Korean makeup products and techniques are extremely popular right now. From skincare products to makeup products and methods for applying both, people are seeing the wisdom in the way Koreans take care of their skin. In this blog post, we’ll focus on Korean foundation and suggest some products from our own K-beauty line.
What is the Korean beauty makeup style?
In K-beauty, the focus is on a very natural look. You want to look effortlessly beautiful, almost like you have barely any makeup on. The skin is taken care of so well that just a little makeup is needed to emphasize what you’ve already got. To achieve the perfect K-beauty look, you want to make sure your skin is thoroughly moisturized. Use moisturizers in both your day and night routine, as well as ultra-hydrating masks or serums as needed when your skin is particularly dry. Throughout the day, a hydrating spray can give your skin a nice, dewy glow and ensure it doesn’t dry out.
You also want to take extra good care of your skin so that you don’t have to cake on makeup to hide imperfections. Never skimp on sunscreen, and tackle acne and blemishes right away.
When applying makeup, you’ll want to stick to foundation with some primer for staying power. Eyeshadow, eyeliner, and lipstick should all be natural colors — think browns and pinks — and none of those should be layered on heavily.
Is Korean foundation full-coverage?
It’s true that one of the big draws of K-beauty is that it emphasizes prevention over treatment. This means that there is a big focus on caring for the skin so that makeup can be kept to a minimum or at least not require heavy coverage. For this reason, many often wonder if Korean foundation is full-coverage foundation. As with American brands, there is a wide range of what’s available when it comes to Korean foundations. Some provide more coverage than others (for example, if you’re looking for a full-coverage Korean foundation, you must try our matte Pretty Filter Perfect Finish Foundation!), but all of them can be layered with concealer if needed for extra coverage.
Korean foundation and moisturization
Remember the emphasis on hydrated skin we talked about? That stress on “moisturized skin is beautiful skin” carries over into Korean foundation as well. That is, many (if not most) of the Korean foundations you’ll find also contain moisturizers. Take our Advanced Real Moisture Liquid Foundation for example. It hydrates as you wear it for flawless skin all day long!
